Thoughts from a Random Mind
A thought rolled thru my mind this morning. I’m looking at a few questionable religions at the moment and it dawned on me that free will allows Christians to pursue the Lord at our own pace. Once saved we can mature as fast as we want. The danger of free will is that man has a propensity to do that which is easy; that which is on the border of right and wrong. God allows that because knowing the Lord is a gradual process that begins at the point of conversion. He knows and understands that.
Those involved in either cults or other religions that pretend to be God fearing folks, do what they do within their religion because their tenets require them to. If they want to get to heaven, they must do what is required of them. They are tenacious in their efforts to convert others to their way of thinking. They do it because according to their belief system, they must.
How much more effective for the gospel would we be if we were required to share the gospel as a means of getting to heaven? But that’s not the way things work in God’s economy. We come to Him because we want to, and we serve Him because we want to. God wants willing followers, not those who feel obligated to follow Him.
Any church that requires its’ members to say or do certain things is mistaken. We do what we do out of shear obedience based on what we perceive and know about the Lord and what we know from His Word. Willing disciples. We do it because of what He did for us. Frankly, serving God is the very least we can do, don’t you think?
Until next time, walk with the King and be a blessing.
