Thoughts from a Random Mind

Misconception - It is an “incorrect conception; false opinion; misunderstanding”. That word came to me this morning when I woke up. It feels like society at-large has a huge misconception regarding what Christianity truly is. To add to the confusion there are some “Christian” churches and groups that seemingly misinterpret scripture which makes them stand out and draw much of the publics attention.

Some churches keep to themselves and practice their faith without any fanfare. Others are more community minded and want people to know who they are and why there are there. Just as there are mega differences in personality, so too there are mega differences in the personality of churches. Typically churches will take on the personality of its pastor. Having said that I would like to think that their core beliefs are pretty much the same.

Christians seem to be hated in some quarters due to the misconception I defined in the beginning. Man’s desire to remain autonomous fuels their disdain for Christians and their beliefs. Some believers evangelize too aggressively and turn people off in a major way.

They are only doing what they feel called by God to do. We are commissioned to spread the gospel message of Jesus Christ; however, the free will the Lord gave all of mankind allows nonbelievers to remain nonbelievers if they so desire.

For the nonbeliever life can become somewhat of a crap shoot as they navigate thru the high and lows of their existence. Some heed the call of God and follow, some try to buck the system by walking the other way. If you want to believe there is no God, you have that right, but don’t disparage those who do believe.

Don’t hate or shun that which you don’t understand. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that I believe most believers in Christ are making a concerted effort to imitate our Lord in the most positive way so as to SHOW others how a Christian is supposed to act without saying much. We are to be non-judgmental; no haters, but lovers of God’s creation. We are to be kind, compassionate, and merciful. We are to pray for others with the belief that God will intervene in any given situation.

So please don’t base a false opinion on a misunderstanding. Either seek to understand as best you can or walk away. All believers in Christ are NOT the same. Each of us are uniquely created by our Heavenly Father, with no two being the same. It is said that even identical twins have some differences, so please don’t lump us all together based on a bad encounter with one. God loves all of His creation, but forces His will on no one. We shouldn’t be forceful either. Until next time, walk with the King & be a blessing.

In His Name & for His Glory,
